Bankruptcy News and Filings

Big corporate bankruptcies have two sides. The side that the lawyers see is an endless mountain of paperwork and millions of dollars lost to shareholders and other investors as the bankruptcy court makes decisions with far-reaching consequences.
The side that the public sees is the dramatic aspect. Yesterday the bankrupt company was doing business in your neighborhood. If the bankruptcy is a Chapter 7 liquidation, then the doors are locked and the sign is being taken down and some people are out of a job. If the bankruptcy filing is a Chapter 11 reorganization, then business goes on as usual, although inventories may be down and the employees might be less than upbeat.
This site chronicles the unending parade of corporate bankruptcy filings in the United States bankruptcy courts. It makes no attempt to be comprehensive, and no way should it be considered legal or financial advice. It’s strictly for entertainment purposes–if your idea of entertainment is watching corporate entities have an encounter with the gallows.
